Qualified First Aiders
2 First Aiders for first 100 employees, + 1 for every additional 100.
If you are working in an industry involving light engineering, assembly work, food processing or warehousing, the HSE guidelines are that you have at least 1 additional First Aider for every 100 employed. In basic terms, you should have 2 first aiders upto 100 people, thereafter 1 additional First Aider for every 100.

However the site maybe spread over a large area and first aiders should be in close proximity to all employees. This may have an effect on the number of First Aiders you require. In view of holidays, lunch breaks and absences it may be an idea to have a number of appointed persons or additional First Aiders to act where necessary in an emergency.

Qualified First Aiders should be:
Reliable
Good communicators
Be able to absorb new skills and knowledge
Cope with stressful and physically demanding emergency procedures
Be able to leave their duties anytime to respond to an emergency
